Coloring on Kraft

Hello, just a quick post today sharing a card I made for the 4Crafty Chicks Blog #322 Coloring on Kraft challenge.

I pulled out my Hero Arts Poinsettia stamp set and heat embossed three gold flowers.

I wanted color since it is on Kraft paper so I pulled out some Sakura gelly and glaze pens. I love these, they are so much fun and they just remind me of my childhood.

I chose white, red and pink. The white is gelly and the red and pink are glaze pens.

After coloring, I decided to emboss a sentiment in white. This stamp came from the Santa2stamp set over at The Stamps of Life.

I finished with a few gold sequins and a gold cord.

Make It Monday #265 Layered Dry Brushing Technique

This week's Make It Monday #265 Challenge from Papertrey Ink is from Lizzie Jones featuring the technique called "layered dry brushing."

I haven't tried this technique before. I didn't have a paint brush handy so I used my Tim Holtz Splatter Brush. It has synthetic bristles that you can use to flick paint and create cool designs.

I applied different colors of distress paints to the brush and painted my watercolor paper. This brush didn't hold much paint at all so it went pretty quickly. I used candied Apple, tarnished brass, silver and lucky clover.

While the paper was drying, I worked on the Christmas tree.

I added several pieces of washi tape to white cardstock and cut the tree out using The Polka Dot Parade #9 Die.

I cut the tree out again, this time using Vintage Jadeite cardstock and then I layered those pieces in the cardstock.

The sentiments that I used came from the newest Make it Market Kit, Parcel and Post.

This was fun technique I will try again.

Winter wishes

Hello there!

Today I created this card using The Stamps Of Life stamp set and dies.

I began by cutting the "window" from the Grid dies 2 set from brown cardstock.
Using white cardstock, I blended distress inks to create a background and then stamped snowflakes in blue all over the paper. After adhering the brown frame, I went around the edges with white pigment ink to add a frosted look.

Next I stamped the snowman in blue and added a light blue wash to the body and finished it by stamping the buttons and the face. He is just so adorable!

The sentiment was stamped and embossed in white.

Paper Smooches Guest Designer Search - November

Hello!

I created a couple of cards for the Paper Smooches Guest Designer November.

I used Paper Smooches Seasonal Dies for these cards. I chose green, brown, yellow, orange and red cardstock for my palette.

I lightly traced a circle die and used the circle pattern to form a wreath of browns and green leaves. I added a brown twine bow at the bottom. Next I die cut a circle of light brown and embossed "thanks" in green. A trio of small sequins was the last step.

For this card I first added a brown tree and added a variety of leaves. I die cut a hill and added that beneath the tree and let a few leaves "fall off" the tree.

I stamped "Hello" in brown and a glued down a few more leaves at the bottom.

Happy Halloween!

It is getting to be that time of year - when I start seeing Candy corn all over the stores! It is my favorite Halloween candy.

It inspired my latest card featuring the Stamps of Life products.

I began by stamping with Versamark on yellow cardstock "Happy Halloween" to create a soft background. I really wanted the centerpiece to stand out so I didn't want any competition.

I die cut from black cardstock a jar shape from the Sizzix Jar Framelits and Stamps set.

I stamped the outline of the jar with white pigment ink and let it dry. While waiting, I stamped about a dozen candy corn outlines in black dye ink.

I filled in the candy corn with different patterns in orange and yellow. This came from the CandyCorn2cut stamp set. It comes with a die so I could cut out all the pieces.

I glued down several candy corn and finished by adding the word, "Hi," spelled out in candy corn.

I die cut the lid of the jar with orange cardstock and stamped the outline with white ink.

Lastly, I added some yellow twine at the top of the jar and glued it all down.

Happy Holidays!

Today is a day off from school for my children so I am taking the opportunity to get crafty! Our church had a wonderful Family camp this past weekend and so now we are just relaxing.

I am continuing to make Christmas cards right now as I am still in the mood to do so!

For these two cards I used The Stamps of Life Card Kit.

I also used the Gingerbread 2 Stamp set and coordinating dies.

I wanted to make several things so I began by stamping lots of gingerbread men with dark brown ink on Stampin up Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. I tried several paper colors but I liked this best.

The stamp set includes lots of cute embellishments including a bow tie, a star button, a circle for his buttons (they were raisins at my house growing up) and lots of icing choices. Just so versatile.

I added a red bow tie and put red stickles on top of that. I did the same for the green stars. The icing is so cute - I stamped it with white pigment ink. I really like that each cookie can have its own personality!

I die cut the happy holidays in red and mounted on green to make it pop. I finished it off with red seam binding.

For this second card, I used the same red and green card stock. I began by die cutting the circle using the Happy Birthday Circle Dies. The outer circle doesn't cut out a circle, but it leaves a circle of punched holes. I sewed around the circle with the thick twine in the Card kit. The gingerbread man was the perfect centerpiece.

I stamped the sentiment and added a little more twine to the edge.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!!

Make It Monday #262 Pumpkins

I don't have any Papertreyink pumpkin stamps so I had to get creative for this week's Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #262 Pumpkins 3 different Ways.

You can see Ashley's blog HERE.

After rooting around in my craft stash, the stamp set Brushed Off caught my attention.

I decided to try and turn the round shapes into pumpkins by stamping the image twice, once at the top and once on the bottom.

It worked out pretty well. It is definitely is a distressed pumpkin so I used Spiced Marmalade distress ink. I hand drew the stem with an olive colored marker and added tendrils to give them a little personality.

I embossed a piece of light colored card stock and added antique linen distress ink to it.

I mounted it all on olive card stock and tied on some twine.

A few brown sequins finished it off.

It turned out to be fun challenge for me.

Today is World card Making day so try to make a card if you can!
