You're Awesome!

I used the Hibiscus stamp set from Waffle Flower and stamped on white cardstock two different size flowers. I used Memento Black Ink.

I colored the flowers with a light blue and a light pink copic marker. I chose one shade of each to keep my coloring simple. I added a touch of yellow at the end.

I stamped a smaller flower with Versamark on the pink cardstock and embossed "Awesome" with gold embossing powder. After adding some light pink twine to the pink, I attached it to green cardstock.

This was a simple one layer card but I really like how it turned out. The flowers really speak for themselves.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Make It Monday # 253 Reverse Stenciling

I finally got around to watching the Make It Monday #253 Reverse Stenciling video today.

I tried to use this Papertreyink stencil yesterday for then blog hop but it didn't work quite right for me so I decided to try it again today!

After pressing the ink pads onto the stencil, I spritzed it with water and laid it on top of the paper.

You can see you can get very different results, depending on how much or how little water you use.

I plan to use the extra backgrounds I made for more birthday cards. You can never have enough of those!

I even attempted one with Christmas colors.

I created 2 cards using the blue - purple combination. Using purple glitter paper, I die cut a balloon from the Papertreyink Balloon Shaker Shapes and die cut a text block for the other card.

I attached a gold string to the balloon and attached it to the card. I kept the cards pretty simple because the paper is very pretty and it just didn't need much else.

This turned out to be a really fun Make It Monday.

Papertreyink June Blog Hop

Hello there!

I have been away from the blog for a while this month. I was with my children for a week at our church summer camp that was an absolute blast!

I created this card for Papertreyink June Blog Hop. I love this inspiration picture. Lots of bright colors and design. For my first try, I made a background using embossed shapes and it fell flat.

I decided to press on and try my hand at a blended background using on of the PTI Bold Blossoms Coloring Sheets.

I used several shades of Tim Holtz distress inks (tumbled glass, twisted citron, wilted violet, picked raspberry and mermaid lagoon) and tried to follow the general background colors.

After blending the background, I spritzed a little water and it leaves this cool splatter pattern.

I die cut Birthday Wishes from Aqua Mist cardstock and then cut 3 butterflies from the PTI Make It Mini Color Pop Butterflies kit. I am in love with these mini sets and am looking forward to using them all summer.

Enjoy your weekend, it is a hot on here in GA!

Thoughts and Prayers

I created this card to send to Jason (Jay) Weaver, who is the bassist of a Christian band I absolutely love, Big Daddy Weave.

Jay is very ill and in the hospital battling a life threatening infection. I wanted to send a card to let him and his family know we are praying for his healing and recovery.

I used stamps from Paper Smooches and colored them in with Copics. I created my background using  "thoughts and prayers" as I really wanted to make that the focal point. I attached it all to a brown card stock base.

I recently discovered the Word Art Wednesday Blog and I thought this card would be a good fit for the current challenge # 234-235 Anything goes.

Paper Smooches June Challenge - Layers

Hi there! Today I worked on a card for the Paper Smooches June Challenge - Layers.

I decided to use a stitched edge die to create several cuts from 3 shades and green. I cut each piece with Martha Stewart fringe scissors,

I glued down the layers from light to dark and trimmed off any excess.

Using black archival waterproof ink, I stamped several butterflies from Flap Happy.

I colored the images with Zig markers and I used Neenah Super smooth solar white, 80 lb cover.

Boy, I noticed a difference blending! Usually, I use a less expensive version of Neenah cardstock but I splurged to see if there is a difference. The markers blended so smoothly with this cardstock!

After coloring, I hand cut the images and added them to the layers. I stamped a sentiment at the bottom and added some clear wink of Stella to each image.

I love this stamp set, I think it is just so cute and I adore butterflies.

I am also adding this card to the Paper Smooches July Guest Designer Search.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

PTI Make It Monday # 252 Gradient Watercolor Die Cuts

Hello! Today I created a card for PTI Make It Monday # 252 Gradient Watercolor Die Cuts.

In the video, Dawn used Zig watercolor brush pens to create a watercolor background and die cut it. I don't have many of the Zigs so I decided to use my Zig Kuretake watercolor set because I have more color selection.

I painted a sheet of watercolor with several shades of blue.

I heat set it and then decided to add some gold watercolor from the Zig Starry Colors 6 piece kit. You can see the shimmer some in this picture. It really is quite beautiful in person.

I die cut it with the Papertreyink Waves Cover Plate and used Enchanted Evening cardstock for my card base.

I added 5 of the die cuts back instead of adding them all.

Next I die cut "Thinking of you" from Paper Clippings Thinking of You die and cut out the words from the frame.

Here is the final product:

This went pretty quickly but it packed a lot of punch using the gradient technique.
