Flowers in bloom

Hello! I recently heard Tim Holtz is releasing Distress crayons and it made me think about my watercolor crayons I have from Stampin' Up. I bought these crayons years ago but haven't used them in a long time.

With watercoloring all the rage, I decided to break them out again. I reached for two beautiful Altenew stamp sets, Beautiful Day and Vintage Flowers.

I chose 2 pinks and a red crayon and created the center flower. I wet my stamp a little bit and then colored the crayon onto the stamp.

After finishing the center flower off with red ink for the outside detail, I wanted to add some brightness to the card so I made  yellow flowers and leaves, using 3 of each color, light to dark.

It was a little trial and error but I enjoyed the process and the final product. I also added some Deco foil glue around the edges with a sponge and put gold over it. It left just the right of sparkle and a rustic feel. The thanks sentiment was cut from watercolor paper and colored with a pink Zig Wink of Stella marker. I truly cannot stop using these markers. The shimmer is so amazing!!!

I am really looking forward to trying some more things with these crayons! Who says you are too old to color???

I made this card for the SSS Monday Challenge A Ray of Sunshine.

Have a great day, thank you for stopping by!

  1. What a beautiful card! I really like the colours you used! Thank you for sharing your technique! :o)

  2. Katherine, what a lovely card, it makes me think of spring when the sun is shining! I like how you centered the pink flower and surrounded it with the yellow. So glad you joined us in our Ray of Sunshine challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday challenges!
