Wishing for Winter!

We have been experiencing LOTS of rain and warm weather in Georgia so we are hoping for cooler weather as we enter into January!

I created this card for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Blog Challenge, Winter Wonderland.

Background was embossed with Snowfall embossing folder and I die cut the stitched snowflakes from watercolor paper. I used shades of blue from my Zig markers and added a little shimmer with my Wink of Stella clear pen.

Paper Smooches Flowers December Challenge

Here is another card I made for the Paper Smooches Flower Challenge.

After embossing the jar, I stamped the flowers using a mask. I water colored all the images and then added glossy accents to the blue water for some dimension and interest. A banner of bright pink cardstock stamped with "thanks" went on top of the jar. Lastly, I added just a little shimmer on the flowers centers with Wink of Stella.

This was really fun!

Paper Smooches Flowers December Challenge

As December comes to a close, I had a few moments to make some cards for the Paper Smooches Flowers Challenge.

This card started out one way and took a turn! I die cut the flowers and after gluing them down I filled in the centers with Glossy Accents. After letting it dry, I didn't really like the way it looked. It had texture but it was boring. I decided to spray it with Tim Holtz blue distress sprays and I ended up with this result. It stained some of the Glossy accents and really made the flowers pop out.

I added a few gold sequins and stamped Happy Birthday to finish it up.
Have a great day!

A few sequins and ribbon helped pulled some red into the finished project.

Supplies used:

Papertreyink Boutique Borders Christmas stamp set and die
Red and Green Cardstock
Stampin' Up Real Red Ribbon
Sequins

Have a wonderful day!

Merry Christmas!

My two daughters (12 & 9) have been helping get the dining room table ready for guests tomorrow. They found a video online and made Christmas trees out of our napkins.

They folded them first and then inserted Popsicle sticks in the top to make the tree topper with a silver star cut from DCWV Glitter Paper.

The last step was to add a banner die cut from DCWV Foiled Cardstock and add the name using a Sharpie. Simple, beautiful table setting made with love.

I love having little elf helpers during the holidays!

May your holiday be Merry and Bright!

Felt Mittens and Meals on Wheels

I recently saw a video by Jennifer McGuire using the Memory Box Plush mitten, stocking and snowmen dies. I decided to use the mitten to make some ornaments for recipients of our Meals on Wheels program at our church.

I teach 4th & 5th grade Sunday school and since Jennifer introduced her Share Handmade kindness I been trying to think of ideas for things to make each month.
I used an assortment of felt and hand stitched with embroidery floss. You can see the outline of a snowflake in some of them.

The children wrote Christmas cards and stuffed the mittens with chocolate bars.

It was a fun project. I didn't want to stop making them! I am going to make extra for teachers to hold gift cards.

Have a fantastic day!
Be sure to check out Jennifer at her wonderful website.

Make it Monday #234: Embellishing with Felt

I absolutely am in love with this pillow box die I picked up recently from Sizzix. It is perfect for gift cards.

For the felt challenge, I decided to use this new Plaid paper from Papertreyink as well as the Joy die. I die cut the word out of wool felt. It cuts like a dream!

Have a great day!

Tags for Christmas!

I love to make tags for Christmas gifts. Here are some I made for my child's teachers.

I added some sparkle to this large holly image

I used Tim Holtz products for these - stains as well as his stencils and texture paste. After letting the texture paste dry, I added the color and spritzed with some water to increase the distressed look.

On a couple of the tags I added a gold shimmer spray after they were dry.
The stamps are also from the Tim Holtz Blueprint collection.

Hope you enjoy, have a great day!
