Papertrey Ink April 2018 Blog Hop

Hi there!

Where has the month of April gone??

It is time for the PTI April 2018 Blog Hop:

Inspiration photo:

Well, in all of my mounds of stamps and dies, I don't have anything that is a teacup! I knew I had to do something different and I was inspired by the delicate cups and all the colors on them.

I pulled out one of my favorites, Garden Gild Make It Mini stamp and die set. It contains lots of florals which caught my eye in the inspiration picture.

I stamped the images with Distress ink because you can watercolor with it. While that was drying, I added a watercolor wash on another piece of paper using Tumbled Glass Distress ink. It is a very light blue. I was hoping to add some of the texture shown in the photo.

I glued the top piece down and added it all to a Aqua Mist card base. The last thing was to add the sentiment. I decided to use the ornament tag (an absolute favorite of mine) also cut in Aqua Mist and I really wanted gold so I die cut that using on of the big word dies (another favorite!)

A little Hibicus Burst was tied on top and it was popped up with foam dots.

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #319 Graffiti Word Art

Hi there!

I created this card for the PTI Make It Monday Challenge #319 Graffiti Word Art:

Lexi Daly was the host this week for the challenge.

I have to admit that this was really hard for me! It took me forever to come up with anything.

I did know that I wanted to use this large word die from Sizzix/Stephanie Barnard. It actually says Happy Birthday but again it is really big so I wanted to use just Happy.

I die cut the word in white and created the first one using distress stains and embossing powder. I decided not to blend the letter like Lexi did because I couldn't get it the way I wanted. I used Brushed off to create the Graffiti "look" - I was hoping for white paint dripping down the top. I am not sure I accomplished it, but I definitely tried!

In this photo you can see the rejected words:
Even though this was challenging, I did enjoy playing with some inks!!

After choosing one, I decided to back it with a black shadow of the word to act as an outline.

I embossed Stars onto the white paper because it was a little plain but I didn't want to overpower the sentiment. I ran the paper through 3 times placing the clusters of Small Sketched Stars in random spots.
This was added to black card stock:
The next step was embossing the Pure Poppy card stock base:
I chose lines to add some more texture and interest:

Here is a close up shot of the finished card. I embossed Birthday in white on black card stock.

Thanks Lexi and PTI for pushing me out of my comfort zone this week!

Loads of Thanks featuring The Stamps of Life

Hello!

I wanted to share a card today:

This fun Flip-it Circle card features some unique shine! The two hearts on the card are actually mirrors!! Look closely in the next photo at the large mirrored heart:

That blue cloud in the reflection is my phone case!!! Too funny! I had to take several pictures to try and capture the mirror without me in it!

Here is the inside of the card:

Thanks a Bunch featuring The Stamps of Life

Hello!

Things have been a bit busy at our house as of late, I am getting a craft room! So I have been tied up with that and work but I did find some time to stamp:

I definitely wanted to play with textures on this card. I recently bought some crepe paper sheets at Michaels as those are super popular right now. They are cut to 6x6 so are a great size for card making.

I added some Stick it adhesive to the back of two pink sheets of paper and ran them through my die cut machine to make the flowers. I then carefully trimmed the light pink flowers and added them on top of the darker pink. This was very easy! I also added some pink epoxy centers.

For my next bit of texture, I die cut a cloud border in white card stock and used that as a stencil to create my clouds.

I added "grass" at the bottom and then began adding the rest of my scene - a cute wheelbarrow that you can fill with different things.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thinking of You featuring Hero Arts

Hi there!

I created this card for the Blog Named Hero Challenge: Use Your Favorite Hero Arts Product:

First, I love Hero Arts so it is impossible for me to choose ONE product from them. But I did try!

I am a big fan of their My Monthly Hero Kits. I have been getting them since the beginning and have almost all of them. They are beautifully made and filled with lots of fun extras -embossing powder, specialty papers, twine, ribbon, etc.

This flower is from the April 2016 kit. I have been watercoloring a lot this year and this flower is perfect for it. I chose to use Jane Davenport's Mermaid Markers to color it in.  The pink marker I used is full of sparkle which makes me happy!

You can see the sparkle in this picture (better in person!):

I stamped the flower in Fuchsia Ranger Archival Ink and the stems in Library Green.
The center was colored with a little yellow watercolor.

I mounted the panel on a piece of pink patterned paper from My Favorite Things and added this to a New Leaf card stock base (Papertrey Ink).

The sentiment was stamped in black on a piece of yellow card stock. The die cut comes from the March 2018 Hero Arts MMH kit. That is popped up with foam dots.

I added three Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets to finish it off.

Make It Monday # 317 Using Outline Images

Today I wanted to share two cards I made for this week's PTI Make It Monday #317 Using Outline Images challenge:
Stephanie Gold had a great video this week sharing this technique.

I made these cards by stamping my outline images in Archival Black Ink. I used stamps from Winnie and Walter stamp sets. Then I went back and stamped the solid colors using images from Altenew.

Since I was stamping I decided to make two in warm and cool colors.

I decided to keep these cards pretty simply by stamping on the card and then adding ribbon to one card:

I think these would be perfect to make multiples for a gift - I might make a set of these to give to my daughter's teacher at the end of the year.

Thanks Stephanie for the inspiration!

SUPPLIES USED:
Stampin' Up Inks: Rose Red, Wild Wasabi, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Lemon Lime Twist
Ranger Archival Black Ink
Winnie & Walter: Elsa's Floral, Addie's Garden
Altenew Vintage Flowers
PTI Card stock: Bright Buttercup, Lovely Lady, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Hawaiian Shore

Have a great day!
